Buy Local Week—sponsored by Ace Hardware, RTD and 45 other local businesses and organizations—is just one of the Mile High Business Alliance’s year-round activities to support area companies and to make buying local easy for shoppers.
“Shifting just 10 percent of our region’s holiday spending to local companies could generate $3 billion for Colorado’s economy in just two months,” said Mickki Langston, Mile High Business Alliance co-founder and executive director. “Shopping in locally owned stores keeps money circulating in our community instead of sending it to other states and reduces the environmental impact of shipping long distances.”
There are more than 525,000 locally owned businesses fueling Colorado’s economy, employing more than 1.6 million Coloradans. Each dollar spent at a local business will re-circulate at least three more times before leaving the state, which bolsters jobs, tax revenue and unique neighborhoods.
