Celebrate RTD's Light Rail 30th Anniversary!For 30 years, RTD has proudly served the Denver community with safe, reliable, and efficient light rail transportation. The light rail system has been a cornerstone in connecting neighborhoods, boosting economic growth, and enhancing mobility for residents and visitors across the region. Join them on October 5th for a special community event as they celebrate RTD’s rich history and look ahead to the next chapter of light rail service in downtown Denver. This event will offer a unique opportunity to engage with RTD leadership, explore the improvements made to the light rail system, and participate in a vibrant celebration of transit and community. They’ll have food trucks, music, and fun for the entire family! Saturday, October 5, 2024 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 1514 California Street, Denver (parking lot adjacent to the light rail station) Denver's LeafDrop Program Denver’s LeafDrop program allows residents to dispose of their fall leaves in an environmentally friendly way. Each fall, Denver’s Office of the City Forester partners with Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) and Ace Hardware to provide paper leaf bags and designated drop-off sites for Denver residents. Compostable leaf bags are accepted in green compost carts during heavy yard waste seasons, including April – June and September – November. Show & Talkback from our Neighbors at Visionbox Studio Join Visionbox Studio for an evening of scenes from Anton Chekhov, Henrik Ibsen, and August Strindberg, performed by Visionbox Studio actors studying these works. The evening will conclude with an interactive reworking of one scene by Visionbox’s Founding Artistic Director, Jennifer McCray Rincón. buffet dinner and open bar will be available from 6:00 - 7:00p and the performance will take place from 7:00 - 8:30p. Colfax Ave Holiday Tree Lighting EventThe Community Holiday Tree Lighting Event, held on November 30th, 2024, will celebrate the newly designated Lavender Hill Queer Cultural District on Colfax Ave. The event will feature holiday caroling by the Denver Gay Men's Chorus and a family-friendly tree lighting ceremony at Colfax Avenue and Franklin/Park Ave Park. We aim to create a neighborhood-friendly event that is walkable and accessible to all, especially the senior residents of the adjacent Residences at Franklin Park campus, making it a welcoming and inclusive celebration for everyone. Find event details and updates at www.colfaxave.com Sidewalk Fees are Coming! The Denver City Council unanimously approved final changes to the sidewalk fee structure last week. Previously, residents were responsible for their sidewalk upkeep, which led to many sidewalks in disrepair and portions of the city with no sidewalks.
