Calling All Community Champions

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your neighborhood? The Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) Board of Directors is on the lookout for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team and help lead the charge in building a stronger, more connected community!

CHUN is a Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) for the Greater Capitol Hill neighborhoods and includes Capitol Hill, Cheesman Park, Cherry Creek, City Park, Congress Park, Country Club, North Capitol Hill and Speer. 

Who are we looking for?
We're seeking vibrant individuals, 18 years or older, who are committed to making a difference. Ideal candidates will bring a diverse set of skills to the table, with a special focus on one or more of the following:
🌟 Fundraising and Development: Are you a wizard at turning ideas into financial support? We want someone who can help us secure the resources needed to fuel our community initiatives.
💼 Relationship Building: Forge connections and strengthen ties with local businesses, organizations, and residents to foster a sense of unity and collaboration within the Greater Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
🔗 Membership Retention and Development: Passionate about growing our CHUN family? We need someone who can engage, inspire, and retain members while working towards expanding our community network.
🗨️ Cohesive Communication: Effective communication is key! If you're a wordsmith with a knack for storytelling and conveying ideas, you can help us keep our community well-informed and engaged.

    CHUN Board Of Directors Application

    Please complete this brief application prior to November 30 , 2025

    A subcommittee of the CHUN Board will screen applications to ensure eligibility. The committee will provide time for a virtual interview and Q&A for potential applicants for open Board seats with terms beginning in January 2026.

    We will accept applications from interested parties who live or work in the following neighborhoods: 2 (City
    Park West/Uptown), 5 (West Cheesman), 7 (Congress Park), 9 (Country Club/Driving Park), and/or At-Large.

    General requirements include the following:

    1) You must live/work in the geographic boundaries of the nonprofit's programming: 22nd Avenue, 1st Avenue; Colorado Boulevard; and Broadway.  

    2) All board members must be a current, dues paying member of CHUN (join/renew at chundenver.org/membership.  

    3) Each candidate must be willing to participate in 9 of 12 meetings each year and be willing to fulfill the duties outlined in the organization's by-laws.

    4) Each board member must serve on at least one committee (engagement, fundraising, urban planning, etc.).

    5) Each board member must attend 2 or more CHUN volunteer events per year.

    6) Each member must contribute to fundraising for CHUN each year.

    Below are the various committees and subcommittees responsible for moving community work forward.

    - We promote a sense of neighborliness
    - We work to improve the physical appearance of the neighborhood
    - We work to provide a powerful, unified voice
    - We encourage representation and cooperation among diverse groups
    - We work on specific neighborhood problems
    - We strive to promote a more positive image of the neighborhood
    - We endeavor to develop Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods identity and visibility, and
    - We take action designed to improve the quality of life on Capitol Hill.

    PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING
    This is the first step in the candidate recruitment process.

    Please note that after all applications have been received the Vacancy Committee meets to review each submission. The committee will be assessing various life, and professional experiences, as well as the unique skills each candidate offers.

    All candidates will be contacted via phone to confirm receipt of their application, to explain the nominations process, restate the At-Large/Neighborhood Delegate responsibilities, answer any questions, and finally to gauge enthusiasm and dedication.  

    The Vacancy Committee then agrees to a slate of candidates to be submitted to, and approved by the full Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods Board of Directors during its December board meeting.

    Once the candidate slate has been approved, ALL candidates will be recontacted to inform them whether they will be moving forward in the process.

    Candidates moving forward in the process will be asked to attend the January 2025 Annual Membership Meeting, at which you will be seated as a board member. Your first meeting will be in late January 2025.
