Good Neighbor Awards

🏆 The CHUN Good Neighbor Award

Celebrating the Spirit of Community in Capitol Hill At Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN), we believe strong communities are built by good neighbors—those who show up, look out for others, and help make our neighborhoods vibrant, welcoming places to live, work, and play.
The CHUN Good Neighbor Award honors the individuals, organizations, and local businesses that go above and beyond to uplift the Capitol Hill community. Whether it’s through small acts of kindness, civic engagement, or simply being a reliable and respectful presence--a good neighbor makes a difference.

What Makes a Good Neighbor?
Nominees for the Good Neighbor Award demonstrate one or more of the following values:
  • Respect – Honors others’ space, time, culture, and boundaries.
  • Communication – Is open, approachable, and engaged in constructive conversation.
  • Reliability – Follows through, helps when needed, and checks in during tough times.
  • Engagement – Participates in community events, local initiatives, and civic life.
  • Kindness – Shows generosity and care, whether through big gestures or small moments.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Anyone!
A neighbor next door, a local nonprofit, a community advocate, or your favorite corner coffee shop--all are eligible. We welcome nominations that reflect the diverse ways people contribute to our community.
